Hand-Carved Heirloom Chairs

Some pieces are built to be sturdy, others are built to be seen for generations, this set was the second kind. Each chair frame was carved entirely by hand, from the scrollwork on the crest rail down to the curve of each leg, with no two carvings machine-duplicated. We finished the frames in a soft antiqued white to let the detail of the carving read clearly, then paired them with deep navy upholstery for contrast. It’s the kind of chair that photographs beautifully, but honestly looks even better in person, once you can run your hand along the carved edge and feel the work that went into it.
